Our Commitment to Privacy

At True North Meds Inc (operating as “True North Meds”), protecting your personal information is of utmost importance to us. We aim to meet and exceed the privacy principles that are outlined in Canada’s Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act (the “Act”). In order to accomplish this, we at True North Meds follow the Ten Privacy Principles outlined in the Act to manage our interaction with personal data and information.

Protecting the privacy and the confidentiality of customer’s personal information is important to the pharmacists and staff at True North Meds. Our intention is to provide the patient/customer with exceptional customer service and protect their interests.Every member of True North Meds must abide by our commitment to privacy in the handling of personal data and information.

Applicability of This Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy attests to our commitment to privacy and demonstrates the ways we ensure that patient privacy is protected. Our Privacy Policy applies to the personal health information of all our patient/customers that is in our possession and control. This privacy policy applies to our employees at True North Meds who may come into contact with your personal data and information, while they perform their daily functions to provide you with your order. All employees are expected to preserve patient/customer confidentiality of personal data and information continuously. In the event there is a breach there will be appropriate corrective measures implemented, which may include termination.

What Personal Health Information We May Collect?

Personal health information means identifying information about an individual relating to their physical or mental health (including medical history). True North Meds only collects information that is required for providing the service of fulfilling yours orders placed with us.

Why Do We Collect This Information?

We collect this information so that we can provide the best experience to you when you place your order request with True North Meds. For True North Meds to complete your order request we may provide your personal information to a prescribing physician.

We may use your personal information to recommend additional products or services offered by True North Meds. In the case of the sale of the assets of True North Meds the records of your personal information may be transferred to the purchaser.

We will not give out your personal data of information to third party companies for use in marketing or solicitation, without first obtaining consent from you.

In order to best serve you, we would like you to, from time to time update your personal information as well as amend any inaccurate details. In spite of all the checks and balances we have put into place to provide you with exceptional care sometimes errors can occur. If you detect any information that may be erroneous or out of date in our files, we will update/correct the information and provide you with a copy for your records. We will also update any other parties that may have received erroneous information inadvertently from us.

We take our commitment to securing patient privacy very seriously. Each pharmacist and employee associated with True North Meds is responsible for the personal information under his/her control. Our employees are informed about the importance of privacy and receive information periodically to update them about our Privacy Policy and related issues.

Identifying Purposes: Why We Collect Information

We ask you for information to establish a relationship and serve your healthcare needs. We obtain most of our information about you directly from you, or from other health practitioners whom you have seen and authorized to disclose to us. You are entitled to know how we use your information and this is described in the Privacy Statement posted at True North Meds. We will limit the information we collect to what we need for those purposes, and we will use it only for those purposes. We will obtain your consent if we wish to use your information for any other purpose.

Consent

You have the right to determine how your personal health information is used and disclosed. We will not collect any personal information about you until you have given your expressed consent.

Limiting Collection

We collect information by fair and lawful means and collect only that information which is required to complete your order.

Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention

The information we request from you is used for the purposes defined. We will seek your consent before using the information for purposes beyond the scope of the posted Privacy Statement.

Under no circumstances do we sell patient lists or other personal information to third parties. There are some types of disclosure of your personal health information that may occur as part of True North Meds fulfilling its routine obligations. We will only retain your personal information as it is necessary to fulfill the purpose for it was collected. We retain personal information for the length of time outlined by law.

Accuracy

We endeavor to ensure that all decisions involving your personal information are based upon accurate and timely information. While we will do our best to base our decisions on accurate information, we rely on you to disclose all material information and to inform us of any relevant changes.

Safeguards: Protecting Your Information

We protect your information with appropriate safeguards and security measures. True North Meds maintains personal information in a combination of paper and electronic files. Recent paper records concerning individuals’ personal information are stored in files kept onsite at our office. Older records may be stored securely offsite or destroyed in a manner which protects personal information.

Access to personal information will be authorized only for the pharmacists and employees associated with True North Meds and other representatives who require access in the performance of their duties, and to those otherwise authorized by law.

We provide information to health care providers acting on your behalf, on the understanding that they are also bound by law and ethics to safeguard your privacy. Other organizations and agents must agree to abide by our Privacy Policy and may be asked to sign contracts to that effect. We will give them only the information necessary to perform the services for which they are engaged, and will require that they not store, use or disclose the information for purposes other than to carry out those services.

Our computer systems are password-secured and constructed in such a way that only authorized individuals can access secure systems and databases.

If you send us an e-mail message that includes personal information, such as your name included in the "address", we will use that information to respond to your inquiry. Please remember that e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception. If your communication is very sensitive, you should not send it electronically unless the e-mail is encrypted or your browser indicates that the access is secure.

We will promise to address any request for information in a timely manner, within 30 days of the receipt of the request.
